HD 7970 with CC 12.8

AMD Phenom II x4 965BE

I have just done a clean install of Windows 7 and installed CCC 12.8

For no aparent reason, at random but fairly often intervals the GPU on the HD 7970 will ramp up to 100% activity, fan speed increase and the temperature will climb along with this.

This happens even when the rest of the system is at idle with no other programs running, no video playing and no games running.

It will stay at 100% for a few minutes, then drop back down to the usual idle rate.

I tried uninstalling the 12.8 drivers and then reinstalling them to see if something had gone amiss but it still happens.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing these random GPU spikes ?

Hi! I had the same issue.

Tried everything and what it seems to solve the problem was a System Restore Point 1 or 2 dyas ago.

I think is a problem with a Windows update and CCC.

Try it and tell me what happens to u

(sorry about my eng, im argentinian)
