So I bought an HD7870 (the 2GB XFX dual fan version) a couple weeks ago and I have some questions regarding HDMI and VGA output. This also applies to the HD5870 I had previously as well.
When ouputting through VGA to my 32" Bravia EX500, everything is sharp and crystal clear, but if you look closely at any place where the color is dark grey or black you can see what I can only descrive as "garbage pixels." Like the color is being overlayed on top of that static pattern you get on your TV when you have no reception (or used to, most of them just show a blank screen now, but I digress and you get the idea). I've tried taking screenshots of it and then viewing the picture on my Android phone and this effect can't be seen, so it's something to do with the screen, however this does not occur when using my PS3.
On the flip side, there's HDMI. While the artifacting doesn't occur through HDMI, the colors are really weird and it hurts my eyes. It takes some messing around in the CCC to get the colors to look right, but then there's the fact that everything looks a bit more blurry than it does through VGA. And everything has a very slight bleed effect at its edge, especially text.
I have to confess my knowledge of TV calibration is limited and since I have no idea what's causing this stuff, I have no idea where to even look to fix it. Is this stuff normal?
