Usually micro-stuttering isn't that bad... Frame rates usually stay reasonable... the game just doesn't feel as responsive. I guess it could happen if one GPU is totally getting hammered, and the other is having to wait around, but for a game as popular as Battlefield I would have expected someone to have improved the balance by now.
Micro-stuttering seems to be a problem that's very... finicky. A hybrid setup does seem to make it more common(at least anecdotally from the posts I've read here), but in general it seems to be both hardware and application specific, and happens only when the two mix in just the right(or wrong) way. There's no real solution for it that I know of, aside from vsync(unlikely to help, in your case), or throwing more hardware at it.
