Hey all,

Purchased the HD 7950 3gig and installed it into a Gateway FX6860 (i7 2600 3.4GHz,  750w Power, 8g RAM) &without doing ANY research about prerequisites. My bad, but heres what I am finding and would love any advice before I return the product.

After seeing little or no performance improvement in framerates over the HD 6750 1g running the flight simulator Prepar3D 64bit version 1.4, I downloaded and ran CPU-Z to get some specifics.

I immediatly noticed that CPU-Z was only showing 1024 MBytes in memory size for the HD7950. I am using Catalyst Control Center which came with the card.

What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Michael

Since the time of my initial post, I remedied my performance problems with a full uninstall of the ATI drivers using ATIMAN and re installation from the Video Card installation disk. Running three 23" Monitors in Eyefinity mode, I was able to fly the PMDG NGX around Seattle with Clouds and ORBX PNA and full renderings at 40fps. Looks like the old driver files were hanging around and not playing well with others.

Cheers,
Michael

Enjoy it while it lasts, that 450w piece of backstreet sweatshop Chinese firecracker of a PSU will take out your whole system before to long. At 200w at stock speeds (the power draw of the 7950 under full load) you are running that rail way to close to peak, not to mention that FSP isn't exactly a top tier brand.
