Not sure if my concern belongs in the Graphics category, or the Processor category. Apologies in advance for any confusion:

Graphics Card
Radeon HD 6950 2 GB DDR5
No overclocking.

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History

Operating System
Windows 7 64x

Issue Details
Processor heats up into the red, over 47C when rendering 3D images using DAZ Studio 4.5.

Motherboard or System Make & Model

Power Supply
Corsair 1000W

Display Device(s) and Connection(s) Used
Two old Dell 24" HD monitors with DVI ports.

Applications and Games
DAZ Studio 4.5.

CPU Details
AMD FX-8150 8-Core Black Edition Processor 3.6Ghz
No overclocking. Runs at default settings.

Motherboard BIOS Version
F9 (current)

Default settings.

System Memory Type & Amount
Corsair Vengence 16GB

Additional Hardware
Thermaltake Bigwater Liquid Cooling System

Additional Details
My AMD Processor usually runs from 16C to 24C when regular programs such as MS Office, web browsers (with visits to YouTube) are used. The processor runs within that temperature when DVD's are played, too.

When I render 3D graphics using DAZ Studio 4.5, the processor runs over 47C.

My Radeon 6950 has 2GB on it, and I'm wondering whether or not that memory is being used during the rendering process or not.

Is there an area where I may check to see if the memory on the graphics card is being used, or is there something else I can do to lower my CPU heat when rendering graphics?

you can use gpuz application to see how much memory of your graphic card is used.

about the cpu heating i think it is normal as rendering is done with cpu if daz studio doesnt have a technology that uses gpu for rendering which i dont know and dont think so.

EDIT: i dont know about your ambient temperature but if it is not something like 12C then 16C is not possible so you may be reading low temperatures then the real ones but 47C or more is not that super hot.
