(rewritten post)

my old graphics card burnt out so im looking into the hd6670 untill i can get somthing better

according to wiki however, the power supplied in pcie 2.1 was changed, breaking compatibility with older 1.0a boards.

is the power used by the hd 6670 low enough to get around this issue without frying my motherboard. even tho the tdp is 66w,ive been told it can pull over 100 when stressed

Umm, PCI Express slots provide 75w of power, the only major changes between versions are protocol based. The question is what do you want to do, a 6670 is fairly anemic so I assume you will not be gaming on it.
