Quote.." This is the AMD Catalyst 9.003.3 FirePro driver modded to add support for desktop cards. I wouldn’t recommend this driver for those who play games. The only ones that will see benefits from using this particular driver are those who use professional 3D design software like AutoCard, SolidWorks, Maya etc. "

" The following new features and optimizations have been added to the 9.003.3 release:

  • Support for AMD FirePro™ S10000 in Unified driver
  • Performance improvements in Solidworks
  • Performance improvements in AutoCAD
  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 6.3 support
  • Windowed OpenGL quad-buffer 3D support in Windows 8
  • 10-bit color video output technology support in Windows 8

Tested with HD 7970. Driver works fine.

Performance wise its nice. Flickering is however present even in Witcher 2 which has been supressed by 12.11 beta 11.

This is what you call a "softmod", it helps people who do professional work, but don't have the money to spend on a Fire series card. The Fire series cards use the same GPUs but the cards are built a little differently, having things such as special outputs, as well as drivers which emphasize OpenGL performance and professional programs whereas the Radeon cards emphasize Direct3D and other home and business applications. The S10000, for example...It's the HD 7990 (and most likely why we don't have a 7990, and who can blame them, 10x the price and packs a hell of a punch in HPC)

Yes, I understand that.

Usually profesional products are also focused more on stability, sometimes in exchange for performance.

I just wanted to see performance of new driver. And I was expecting (more)  trouble with DirectX.

Modded firepro driver:

http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/4505193
P23195

Official WHQL signed Catalyst 12.10

http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/4505242
P23078

Rest of the system has exactly same configuration which is

Xeon X3360 @ 3392Mhz (comparable with C2Q Q9550)
Asus Rampage Extreme, FSB 398Mhz
Adata XPG 2.0 @ 1592Mhz 8-6-6-16 CR1

Gigabyte HD 7970oc @ 1000Mhz/1375Mhz (oc version of the card at stock setting)

I really like how the driver performs guys, even visually (everything looks much smoother). Just fix the flickering
