Easy enough to connect the first VGA monitor as there is a direct port. What adapter can I use to connect a second VGA monitor to the other port (looks like DVI but pin configurations are different)? I have tried 2 different VGA to DVI adapters but neither works.

One of the ports is DVI-I which is both analog and digital, second one is DVI-D which is digital only, so no matter which adapter you use, you can't connect a vga monitor to it. Check if one of your monitors has a dvi/hdmi/dp port and if they dont, there are only two choices, a costly active dvi-vga converter or new monitors.

I figured the easiest way would be a VGA to DVI adapter but didn't count on there being different types of DVI. At any rate... my monitors have HDMI sockets so hopefully a HDMI to DVI-D cable will solve my issue quickly.
