Hello everyone,

I am having trouble with my audio. Since I upgraded my Geforce GT 545 to my new Sapphire Radeon HD 7950, I am experienced a constant static noise in my speakers whenever I play games. I do not have this problem when it's idle but whenever I start up a game it occurs.. Also I have figured out that it is linked to my FPS in some way. the higher the fps, the faster the noise is. It is really annoying me because apparently my friends on Skype can also hear it when I am calling and they say it's very loud (probably louder than I can hear it myself).

I have searched on Google for this problem and couldn't really find a solution. I have tried updating my Audio drivers but that did not work. I cannot say where the problem is but it happend since I upgraded my PC.

With the graphics card I also added  a new Power Supply which is the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W.

If any of you have experienced this before and have solved it, please tell me!

System Specs:

Intel Core i7 2700K 4x 3,4 GHz

Sapphire Radeon HD 7950

8GB RAM

ModXStream Pro 600W PSU

System Model: Medion MS-7728

If I forgot something, please let me know.  Thanks in advance.

Assuming you use HDMI for audio. Which drivers are you using? I've heard 12.8 had this issue with some gpu's, supposably its fixed in 12.8 beta and 13.1.

You need to supply more information on what exactly you're using for sound.  On board or add-on card?  What kind of wiring?

I can say straight off that if you're using an unshielded cable from the front panel audio header, you're going to get noise.

I use the latest Catalyst drivers and I don't know about the HDMI Audio? I did not change any audio settings with the card. And for sound, I don't have a soundcard or anything so I guess it's onboard.

I fixed this issue by just plugging in my headset into another slot in the back of my PC. Never thought it would be this easy.

it's because your speakers were active and  connected to an AC where they picked up the intereferences sent by the videocard (yes they are crapply made) in the electrical flow. Headphones are not connected to an AC source so that is the reason you won't hear any noise and why there are not affected.
