Is there any way to test the video card is working well in a simillar way that HD Tune can test an HDD surface? I have only found two unofficial applications that may do some testing:

ATITool can "check for artifacts" (whatever that means)
Video Memory Stress Test: claims to test video card memory

Can you confirm these tests are valid or can you recommend something else, pls?

Many thanks in advance!

Furmark does it rather well, it starts to show artifacts if your overclocks are too high or if something is going to break soon. For stability testing I would use OCCT.

If you are seeing artifacts or graphical glitches, you might want to run Memtest86+ as well.

Thanks for your replies! I am neither overclocking nor heavily 3d-gaming. I am rather looking for a way to test the card's memory or, if possible, other parts, under normal working conditions.
