Greetings all,
I recently had to send my old 7970 XfX back because it went bad. During the down time I started using my 5850 to be able to continue to use my system. When I got the replacement GPU 7970 PowerColor I made sure to wipe all the software for the 5850 and do a driver sweep.
To my extreme dismay, I am not able to get the new card to display anything. The computer appears to boot but I don’t think it goes past the BIOS message since when I press the power button it instantly shuts off. I have 2 slots to test the GPU on and neither of them are successful. My mother board is "Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5." I am currently back to using my 5850 until I can get the other one to work. I am writing this in hopes that I am missing something and I don’t have a faulty, brand new, card on my hands.
Further info: When attempting to run with the new 7970 I have no drivers installed. The 5850 boots fine without drivers or software but not the 7970. The Motherboard I have does not have on board graphics so I can’t do any diagnostics while the card is plugged into the system
Any help would be extremely appreciated,
Thank you,
Kolzig
