I am seriously pissed off by now. i bought an Asus HD7950 Direct CUII TOP V2 5 weeks ago and from the get go the card wouldn't perform well in games, even though it is doing fine in Benchmarks. BFBC2 on lowest settings (DX9 all that good stuff), the framerate is 40 fps lower in average than the framerate of my old GPU, the HD6870 (that's 35 fps when the chat is open, 20 fps when i open the scoreboard). same rig. The game freezes every 10 seconds for a few moments, there is black flickering all over the place. CoD4, same stuff. Artifacting all over the place. Quake live and MSI kombustor have problems with letters, like this.
So i was around in some forums and i contacted the Asus support. i overclocked my CPU, i RMA'd the card twice (they sent me a broken one the first time), nothing has changed. The temps are all normal, i tried several drivers, all the same result (yes i wiped it clean). NONE of the problems occur when i put my 6870 back in. 2 weeks ago i finally decided to send a support ticket to AMD, the confirmation mail came 3 days late, and i haven't received an answer ever since. for me there are only three more explanations for this. 1) your drivers are garbage. 2) the GPU doesnt work well with a PCI 2.0 interface 3) the CPU is bottlenecking (makes no sense, the framerrate should be the same as the 6870 then). I am in my final stages of patience.
Rig:
AMD FX4100 (4.2 GHz)
Asus M5A97
Asus HD7950 Direct CUII TOP V2 (stock clocks)
Corsair AX750
TeamGroup Elite 1333MHz 8GB
Corsair H60
1080p monitor on DVI-D
Corsair Force 3 60GB
WD 500GB green drive
fresh Win7 Home Premium 64bit

use a second disk and try a clean install of Windows and the game and see if it runs better, should be able to get 60 fps solid

i don't want to annoy anyone in here, but i'd like the issue to be worked on before everyone takes off for the weekend, because there hasnt been a reply for 24 hours now. 5 weeks of anger, i want some peace.

Point being there really isn't a "working on" it group here. Apologies of course, and this place tends to light up more on the weekends.

The members that have posted in this thread have done so in good faith to try and help you resolve your issue, but they do not owe you a resolution, or a response within any particular time limit. If you have concerns about the open Support Ticket you have with AMD's Customer Care, then I would ask you message me privately through the Forum's PM system, rather than update this thread. None of your fellow community members can do anything about an issue you may have with a Support Ticket. ;Marc
