I'm looking at 3 39" Vizio TV's for an Eyefinity setup but they are HDMI. Can I do DVI to HDMI cables on the DVI outputs and an active mini display port to a DVI to HDMI cable for the third TV?

Thanks.

John

A HIS 6970. It has two DVI ports, 1 HDMI port , and 2 mini display ports.

The TV choice has changed since yesterday as there is a 3 day sale on another very well reviewed TV. The TV has 2 HDMI ports, 1 DVI to HDMI port, and 1 VGA port. I dont understand the DVI to HDMI port, The sticker on the TV says it's a computer input.

Best I can make sense of it, without knowing the television model to check, the "DVI to HDMI port" means there's a single electrical port that can be used with either a DVI connector or a HDMI connector - two physical connectors that rely on the same circuitry, so only one at a time can be used.

In any case, as to the original question, since DVI and HDMI are electrically copmatible, you should have no issue using an active DP to DVI adapter with a simple DVI to HDMI converter, or even a DVI to HDMI cable.  There are also active DP to HDMI adapters, if you want to go that route.
