Which is better? 4 hd 7970 in crossfire or 2 hd 7990?

Neither, because 4 way crossfire does not scale in any game. Its a complete waste of money thats only good for things like *drumroll*Benchmarks. 

Trifire however does scale great in alot of games it just all depends on how the game is coded and how the driver team feels they should throw in some profiles for it.
