My Dell Inspiron desktop w/ATI Radeon HD 5450 is suddenly today not displaying the color red. I’ve determined it’s not the monitor at issue, by plugging in a different monitor (Dell in1910n, then Samsung Syncmaster 914v) – the problem remains. I’ve updated my driver (to the latest Catalyst, dated Jan 2013), and the problem persists. Even when I go into monitor settings and adjust the red component to its max, nothing changes.

This doesn’t relate to running anything display-intensive. Just the normal screen looks weird, and when I open a photo of my orange cat, he looks green .

I’m running Win 7, 64-bit.

Today’s the first day this has happened. Nothing has changed about the computer, the connections, or the monitor (other than switching out to a different one, to figure out if it’s the adapter or the monitor).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is visually quite distracting, and affecting productivity!

Thank you,

Deborah

Bad cable? Bent pins? Oxidation? Assuming you are using a vga cable, as with dvi, a broken pin would yield you no image at all. Try with a second cable?

Yay, you're so great! That's it exactly. Fortunately I had another one sitting around I could try it out with. And that was much easier/cheaper than replacing either the adapter or the monitor.

My cat is orange again

Thank you!!

Deborah
