im trying to setup a triple display with my card that has hdmi, dvi and vga outputs. one connected to vga and two monitors to dvi using dvi to vga splitter. i can only only manage to get two monitors to work and am wondering if this is possible. my card doesnt have a displayport. when i execute xrandr, it shows the two active and also dfp one and dfp two disconnected.

would really want this to work. any suggestion will be appreciated. thanks in adavance.

If you don't have a displayport, then its physically impossible to use more than 2 monitors at the same time on the same gpu due to the card only having two RAMDAC's, displayport works differently and that is why you need it.

Link above shows that the hd5430 can handle 4 monitors simultaneously. Now, I noticed that it mentioned the Eyefinity, which I guess is for the display port. Now I've been searching for an HD5430 video card with display port (google, ebay, etc...), just to check if one exist, and I could not find one. So my question is this, what is AMD referring to?

lspci gives me this so I know I have the right card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Park [Mobility Radeon HD 5430]

01:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Cedar HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5400/6300 Series]

No. It's a desktop. Could it be that lspci is giving me a wrong info?

I just bought another video card and got my triple monitor.

Catalyst detected the third monitor automatically. All I had to do is set my preference and reboot.

Thanks to all

just FYI. All along I thought I had the right card. When I ran lspci it said I had Mobility Radeon HD 5430 but when I started AMD Catalyst Control Center, it's telling me that I have EAH5450 instead. So for us linux users out there, can't really rely on the "lspci" command.
