I recently replaced my 4870x2 with a Gigabyte Windforce HD 7950. Since then, my computer hangs after idling for a while (30 min. but this varies). The monitor is off, and simply does not jump on again after moving the mouse. The numlock led does not respond to the numlock key, often a reliable indication the system hangs. I have completely removed and reinstalled the Radeon drivers, but to no avail. The logs show no trace of anything going wrong. When the system is actively used, it runs smooth and stable without any freezes/hangs

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution to this?

What are your settings in regards to allowing your PC to go to sleep.

There have been issues with posted in regards to this. If you put your system to sleep try not allowing it.

I only let my monitor turn off and not my CPU since I have other devices that use storage on it.

If this corrects the issues see the Forum "How to" on how to diable ULPS by Stumped.

The power setting on your computer...is it set for Performance? Have you adjusted the Advanced power settings?

My monitor is set to go off after 30 min. which I would like to keep that way.

The computer was set to go to sleep after 5 hours, but I changed this to "never" now. The weird thing about this is that system always hangs somewhere *before* 5 hours have passed, thus before the computer should have actually entered sleep.

I furthermore adjusted the USB selective suspension and PCI Express settings as indicated in stumped's screenshot.

I will leave the computer running for a while, see what it does and then report back here.

Thanks for the suggestions for now!

The above setting changes seem to do the trick. I have had no system hangs anymore thusfar...
