My nVidia 8800 GTS burnt out and the MSI Radeon HD 7850 was recommended as a good card for my price range. I installed it following the instructions provided, but when I try and launch any games from Steam I get a problem:

*TF2 and Payday launch a window or blackscreen, then shut straight to desktop

*Lego Lord Of The Rings tells me the card won't support Shader Model 3 (pretty certain it is a SM5 card with DX 11)

*Gunpoint says "Failed to initialise drawing surfaces. Check your graphics card meets minimum spec" (pretty certain it more than meets it)

*Worms Revolution and (newly installed) Baldurs Gate: EE work fine

I uninstalled everything nVidia I found in Add/Remove Programs, and used Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode to remove the nVidia Driver and Physics sections (NOT the chipset section) but that hasn't helped, nor has reinstalling Payday helped to get that working.

Anytime I add new componets to my computer I allways do a fresh install of windows to prevent any problems. I know its a pain but well worth it in the long run.
