I am having a trouble about my 4870X2 for about a month. The problem is very weird.
When I start a game,Screen sometimes look very good and the game too.But just for 5 minutes. After a moment, the display starts trouble...Black triangles,or green, red, blue squares starts to display...And after a moment,my computers says display driver stopped running,or game crashes,my screen all go Green, and my computer needs restart.

I open up my Device manager and found a weird thing. My 4870x2 shown as double. But I have only one card.

I tried to test my clocks by ATI Catalys Control manager, and test fail all time.

I need a really big troubleshoot !

looks like your 4870X2 has given up the ghost.

Black triangles, green squares or lines are a really good sign that card is starting to fail and only thing you really can do is replace the card.

The 4870X2 was ATI's top dog when the 4000 series came out it had two 4870 gpu's on one card. 4870 (X2). Thats why it shows up as a double in device manager.

That's what it sounds like to me too. Four years of thermal expansion and contraction looks to have taken its toll. You could always try the "oven trick" but seeing as how the HD 4000 series is legacy now it would be a good time to upgrade. Take a look at the HD 7870 Ghz Edition, a bit more power than your current card on paper (quite a bit more in practice) and only $169.99.
