I'm aware that mixing connections for multiple monitors on Radeon cards leads to the card keeping higher clocks on the core and full speed memory clocks in order to drive both monitors.
I'm also aware that running 2 DP screens overcomes this issue. However, I don't have two DP screens.
What I DO have is two identical monitors both with HDMI/DVI connections. I also have a 7950 card with dual mini-DP connections on there. If I therefore connect both monitors via passive adaptors to the mini-DP connections, will the card use the lower clocks at idle? Or do the connections have to be DP-DP rather than DP-HDMI?
Thanks for any help!
