I was about an hour away from pulling the trigger on buying a pair of 7950s, but I just found out scattered reports that Crossfire doesn't support windowed mode.

Is that true? I almost exclusively play on dual monitors with one window on my game in fullscreen windowed and the other window watching videos. If Crossfire doesn't support gaming on windowed mode, I'll be pretty dissapointed and have to get nVidia GPUs instead

Crossfire only works in full screen mode. SLI works -sometimes- in windowed mode. The bigger question is why are you going for two 7950s instead of one 7970/280X? Slightly lower on-paper performance but equal to greater in-practice performance due to the highly varying nature of how games use multiple GPUs. A single 280X for $299.99, or two 270X for $199.99 each?
