I'm running 2 HP 2311 Series Wide LCD Monitors

This only happens with PDF files.

Anyone else having this problem?

Any suggestions as to what might be the cause?

Try a different PDF reader.  I've noticed that Adobe often has pretty poor visual quality sometimes.

Foxit is a popular alternative to Adobe.
