Anyone else having random freezes with sapphire R9 290?

Can go from 3min to one day no matter what I do .. (Write email / watch a movie / play a game / read on a website).

Mouse / Keyboard not responding / no error codes from the motherboard DR.MOS / no errors in the log book except force to turn off the power switch.

It's like the computer had a stroke, all fans spinning and the lights are on, but no one is home.

I am getting random reboots in 2D with the R9 290 which are highly concerning. The card is not overheating...I have a well ventilated full tower case.

I've tried two Catalyst 13.11 beta drivers so far: betav9.2 and betav8

Both have the same issue. Reboots (black screen and then PC POSTs after several seconds....which is basically the equivalent of a BSoD) occurs when watching an mkv on VLC, a You Tube video, opening up a jpeg on my machine, or even just surfing the web on Chrome with 3-4 tabs open.

I am not sure if the issue is hardware or software...either way, I working with a card which is not reliable and compromises the stability of my system badly.

Hey guys just as a thought, i was having problems in game like this but what i did was uninstall the drivers and used driver sweeper to get rid of any AMD display based registries that dont get taken out and re installed the drivers.

Cant say this will fix your problem 100% but it seemed to do the trick for me.

Also setting ur thermal limit to something like 80C and let the fan go lose ( meaning let the fan spin as fast as it needs to ) also fixed some problems for me with my R9 290x set up.
