II noticed that that Overdrive is completely gone in CCC though and there is no way for me to monitor temps.

Try GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner for temp monitoring.

Yeah I'm on a Sapphire R9 290 and I'm having the exact same issues. And it is clearly the card as I swapped back to my severly outdated HD4870 and everything is fine.

Kind of pissed off already, as this is my second card.

Should I wait for a fix or should I just replace and top up with a GTX 780? Yeah, it is more expensive and frame rates are slightly poorer but I'd take a more reliable card any day.

I went through so much trouble just to get it to work. My retailer suggested it could be with the new Windows updates so I even did a fresh install of Windows. I played around with the different driver versions but nothing works. Really sick and tired.

Seems like we're getting ignored by AMD. I'll most likely never buy an AMD card again lol..

FYI,

I purchased powercolor r9 290x few days ago and had black screen problem, i returned them and bought asus r9 290x couple days ago(reference design as well), i havent got any black screen ever since...

Asus' 290x is almost $100 more than powercolor's, but i'm satisfied. Price does make difference in this case...
I'm glad i didn't switch to Nvidia 780TI, almost did thou...

i think it's powercolor fault, not AMD, some oem are cutting corners.

I have the same problem like everybody here. I pay for AMD graphic 290X 650$ and for what? For nothing. For something what does not work. Wrecked card. And what AMD to do? Just make joke from us. NEVER buy AMD

posting to say I have the same issue on my Sapphire R9 290 Tri X, it would blackscreen/loss signal constantly when i open up CCC or even start to browse using chrome/firefox. I'm pretty sure it's the GPU coz i had a brandnew system built from ground up and tested no problems with other graphic cards. Installing 13.12 doesn't fix it either.

The card is returned now and hopefully the replacement has no issues.

Same problem with 290x (Gigabyte)

Black screen after 30 min bf4, Rust, DayZ (every game and after restart too)

Black screen in CS:GO in first 10-15 minutes of game (first boot, no black screen after restart)

Small amount of black screens in lastest Deus Ex (1-2 in a week, everyday play).

After I did small voltage increase - no blackscreens for 1 day (play bf4, DayZ, CG:GO). Next day - blackscreen happens again.

I cant RMA my card, because I install accelero xtreme iii (black screen before, and black screen after)

It's very sad 700$ for not working hardware

So today I took out my Asus R9 290X and sent it back to AMD, let them chew on that biggrin.gif

Put back in the card that NEVER let me down, my happily not sold HD 7850 smile.gif

Thought I checked my memory module, yes ofcourse HYNIX...

Same problem with the 290. It Would instantly crash as soon I installed the drivers or just black screened/BSOD never recovering... On a brand new built Pc. I'm Waiting on a RMA replacement at the moment but I have my doubts the next one will work either. Using a 7870 as I wait and decide if I should give up on amd and give Nividia a try

Waiting for ASUS to replace my blackscreening R9 290X.

In the meanwhile I am running a Sapphire R9 290X Tri X (Hynix), which is fast, quiet and NOT BLACKSCREENING!

As soon as I plugged the new card in since then I have a problem with performance in Need for speed Rivals (FPS drops  to 25). It's far beyond the other results I found on different web sources where min FPS is 47 or so (near the same PC configuration). I have i5 2320 3,3 ghz and 16 gb ram. The following questions: 1. What causes FPS drops 2. Could it be in case of adapter elements oxidation (corrosion) as a result that water drops hit the adapter?
