Hello, i'm used to run my pc (MSI k8n sli platinum - opteron 180) with an asus hd4850. Now thinking to do well i've buied a new video card by gigabyte, a GV-R726XOC-2GD but after a couple of tests gigabyte support told me that is needed an UEFI motherboard to run that card.
Is there any other newer radeon card i can run on this motherboard? something better than my good old hd4850?
Thanks, Luca

A motherboard from 2005 that runs dual cores and uses DDR1 ram, I think even that hd4850 is heavily bottlenecked. Time for a whole new machine

I can't tell about bottlenecks, to me that system seems to play very well, however does anyone have any answer to my questions?

I'm asking about a not uefi video card for a not uefi motherboard, telling me i need a whole new system is not a reply. I know a whole new system will do better even with old hd4850 but it's not what i'm asking. Will you tell me to buy a new car if i ask for some new kind of tires? I don't want to troll, just a reply if someone knows if ah hd 5000 6000 7000 etc. would be compatible even if totally bottlenecked. Thanks

New car - tires is said a little bit mildly, its more like refusing to buy a car and order a V12 engine for a bicycle instead.

I know that, but still no one reply to my answer: wich newer card is compatible? Not sould i buy a new pc? The fact i can't upgrade the whole system is a fixed point around all that moves, pick it as if i was asking in theory if it's easier to accept. If someone can help me i'll be grateful.

Hi I run 2x 7870's on a none uefi Motherboard so I dont see any problem. Remember some of the newer cards have no drivers for windows xp so if you are using xp make sure you get a card that has drivers for it.
