Hi,

I have a new MSI R9 270X GAMING 2G card. Gaming and just regular Windows (Win 7 64 bit) is working just fine. The only problem that I have had a few times since installing the card (which was about two weeks ago) is that if I leave the computer for a while and then come back (I believe it only happens when Windows turned off the monitors after 15 minutes) and try to move my mouse for Windows to turn on the monitors again, I don't get any image on my first monitor, and the second monitor flickers very quickly. Pretty much all I can do then is to turn off the computer (using the power button) and turn it back on again.

I am using Catalyst version 13.12. I have two monitors installed, both via DVI, one 24", one 19". The 24" (attached to the top DVI port on the card and used as my main monitor) is the one that doesn't wake up, the 19" is the one that keeps on flickering quickly.

Other hardware is a i7-3770K, 16 GB of RAM, Asus Xonar D2 sound card, be!quiet power supply (I think its ~450 watts).

Gaming (I played Battlefield 4 at ultra settings for a few hours) is no problem, so it shouldn't be some kind of heat problem.

Is this a known problem? What could I try to fix this annoying problem?

Thanks in advance!

try to look at your psu, most likely its your bottleneck,

if im right for the R9 270 a 750W psu is recommended

Hm, I looked through different forums before buying the card and most everywhere it said that my psu should be totally fine to power the 270x.

And if my 450W weren't enough, shouldn't I get some problems when playing a current game with ultra settings for a long period of time (Battlefield 4)? Or when turning on the PC?

This problem only occurs when windows turns off the monitors after 15 minutes (my setting) and I get back to the computer. It's not in standby mode or anything, it's just the monitors that turn off.

I also think PSU causing this problem. All Radeon™ R9 200 series system power supply requirement are 500W-600W.

It may be work with 450w PSU, but not reliably.

Is the issue resolved when using one monitor?
