I brought 2 Asus r9-290s and tried to crossfire them. I'm getting BSOD with varying error causes quite regularly while using the cards under medium to heavy load, neither have been over-clocked. PC just freezes or goes BSOD.
Ive memory tested my machine - ok(no GRAM test performed), clean installed drivers - no change, clean installed windows - no change, Application log reports kernal-ing errors.
I am just now attempting to run them as X-fire disabled to see how I go, not feeling confident. Is there a high rate of manifacture faults on these cards? and how would I go about identifying which one of the 2 has a hardware fault.
I'm fairly certain I have enough power and cooling is well covered(only air and original blocks)
Please any help would be much appreciated, system specs are as follows-
win 7 ult 64bit - OS
crosshair V formula - mobo
phenom x6 black amd - CPU
G-skill ripjaws 8gb - Ram
Coolermaster 1000 pro gold edition PSU
There are 2 mechanical disks just used as data storage, an optical drive and 6 chase fans. that is it
Im starting to think that one or both of thesee cards are faulty but I dont really wanna go down that road. Please help
