I recently bought a ASUS Radeon R9 290 4GB DirectCU II OC (R9290-DC2OC-4GD5) and after hooking it up I installed the latest drivers available on the AMD site. The card was recognized as a "R9 200 series" card. I thought it was a bit strange the the card wasn't being specified, so I tried booting up a few games to check the performance, they ran fine, but not having used the card before I didn't really know what kind of performance I could expect. Anyway, I uninstalled the drivers and used the CD that Asus sent along in the box to install the drivers that were on it. This time the card was recognized specifically as a R9 290 card in CCC(can't remember if ASUS was in the name aswell). Now, performance-wise I wasn't able to notice any difference, so I installed the newest drivers from the AMD site again and the card went back to being recognized as "AMD Radeon R9 200 series" in CCC.
Is it okay to leave it like this, or is there's something amiss here? Should I go back to using the drivers asus sent along? Or maybe try installing the ASUS drivers first and just try to upgrade to the latest?
Worth mentioning is that I used the AMD clean uninstall every time, followed by Driver Fusion in safe mode cleaning up the rest.
