I want to use the sound built into my mobo which is an Asrock 990FX Extreme 9. I can only use Mobo sound when I uninstall the AMD 14.4 drivers. As soon as i unstall the drivers for my XFX R9 280 X Black Edition the Mobo sound cant be used. This happens even if I dont install the AMD HD Audio driver. I even installed the AMD HD audio driver and disabled the driver in the Control Panel Sound settings and disabled the AMD HD Audio driver in Device Manager and there is still no Mobo sound. I have an HDMI cable running from my graphics card to a 47" flat panel Tv. The only way I can get sound is if I use the AMD HD Audio driver and the sound goes thru the HDMI cable to the TVs speakers.

Strangely though if I take headphones and put them in the green 3.5mm Audio jack I can get sound. But I cant get the sound to go to my TVs audio in. Its as if the TV is trying to get sound through the HDMI instead. Any ideas?

My computer:

Hello,

I have the same problem in here, I've just installed the 14.4 on my R9 290 and lost the sound on my TV plugged in with HDMI,

Did you found any solution, or any one does ?

Thank you,

Regards

No. I also contacted XFX who is the maker of this card but all they said was did I check if my mobo sound was set as default in the Audio settings in Catalyst, and it is. I am probably just going to return this card. Youtube video stutter like crazy in Mozilla Firefox, most Blu Ray software players are incompatible, and then the other day i installed a tv tuner card and the tv stutters like every 5 sec. This card will not play video smoothly. Im gonna have to go Nvidia after being a fan of AMD all these years.

No just dont feel I should have this much trouble out of a $350 video card. I buy it and it should just work. Testing and troubleshooting should have been done before it came to market. I am going to try RMAing it back to XFX first and see what happens.
