I have installed the AMD Catalyst 14.4 update and my computer is completely bricked.  The computer won't advance further than the Windows 7 boot menu for about 3 minutes.  Safe mode won't start (hangs at ATiPCie64.sys)

Check BIOS boot priority to see if it has changed...happened to me a couple of times in the past.

Well I /could/ see the Windows 7 flag appear.  And Safe Mode won't boot as well, hanging on the AMD File.  So obviously driver issue.  I fixed it with a System Restore from the System Recovery Options.  Blog link:

the last few drivers are known to be buggy

might be an idea to backup and install windows fresh as drivers of late have been a real nighmare

Easier said than done.  Plus it's really time consuming for a complete re-install.

I've only installed the 13.12 update before this.  I only installed the WHQL updates.

I used System Restore from Recovery Options.

Please make sure you use Driver Fusion or DDU when removing old drivers. I've done alot of testing and AMDs removal tool is junk. It gave me purple screen flickering which was completely unusable until I boot to safe mode and clean the drivers with DDU.

Other users able to reproduce this issue?

Edit: I did a complete re-installation of the drivers using DriverFusion and add / remove program.

I suggest sticking with with 13.12 which at least boots up fine

I only have a HD 5450 to test drivers with so that means no game testing

I'm sticking with that(13.12). And I don't have no games installed.

Hi,

If the hard drive is flickering and you get only to windows loading screen, read on

Please DO NOT publish names when you receive direct email from AMD.

So...is there a newer "Driver Packaging Version"?

14.10.1006-140417a-171099C

Is there a newer "AMD Catalyst Control Center Version"?

I've updated using the new link and it sorta worked. I needed to remove the AODDriver when the drivers are installed (just before I installed the new drivers). I followed the instructions at http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/342005-33-event-7000-aoddriver4-error

13.12 is what I am using whch seems to be stable

I have not finished the graphic for that rig yet
