Hi Folks, I'm hoping someone can provide some insight into an issue I'm having. My desktop has a Radeon HD 6770 but Catalyst installs drivers for the 5000 series instead of 6000 series. Everything works great with those drivers except Photoshop CC 2014 which faults on the video card driver and crashes on openning. I'm a photographer and live by Photoshop. When I install the Windows Update recommended driver its a 6000 series driver and photoshop works fine, but then a lot of my other applications don't, particularily Steam and my games crash on loading. I can't keep reinstalling drivers depending on whether I want to work or play. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

I recommend the 14.7 RC drivers...don't use auto-detect and install.

Installing new AMD graphics drivers

Thanks for the advice. I did try a full remove of the old drivers and installed 14.7 RC drivers and the same result. Photoshop works using the windows recommended driver but Steam and Sony Vegas don't. Then I install the new AMD drivers the device manager tells me its a HD 5700 driver and Steam and Vegas work again but Photoshop doesn't. You say don't use auto-detect but then AMD Catalyst does its own auto-detect during install. I'd like be able to directly download the 6770 driver and not have to install the whole Catalyst package if possible. Do you know if there's a way to do that?

I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the various programs with different drivers in play and keep getting the same result.

Hazaa!!! I just got it. Instead of relying on AMD or Windows to give me the right driver I tried downloading the driver from HP. I have an HP H8-1022 and installed the driver from their support page and everything works!!!

Interesting. HP must have a screwed bios/dev id... 5770=6770 as they are the same hardware (Juniper), but the 6770 bios has a profile for h264 mvc & hdmi 1.4a. With the right bios, it's possible to flash a 5770 to a 6770. Peculiar that CC wasn't running. OpenGL/CL works OK on the DX11 VLIW Radeons.
