I just got a new Yamaha RX-V377 AVR and have it connected by HDMI to my Sapphire 6950 HD graphics card.

Every time I boot my PC I have a black screen instead of the Windows 7 logon screen and I have to turn on the AVR to get the logon screen to show up unless I disconnect the HDMI cable from the 6950 HD.

Does anyone know if there is a setting in the 13.12 Catalyst Control Center to show the logon screen when the PC is connected to the AVR?

Does the bios post "appear" on the hdmi as well (resulting the monitor being blank when its turned on)? But the login problem should be fixable if you change your display identifier numbers, windows will always try to display login on display 1, regardless on the output used or if there are other "displays" connected. It probably treats the AVR as a TV before it gets turned on and returns EDID.

I have to have the AVR on already before I turn on the PC and yes I see the bios post on both the monitor and HDTV. If I have the AVR off before I boot the PC then I see the bios post all the way up to the first Windows 7 splash screen then there is no logon screen unless I turn on the AVR.

Usually I right click the desktop select Screen Resolution then next to Multiple displays: I select Show desktop only on 1 for the AVR and I never extend displays.

If you are talking about the number next to Display: right under the icons in the Screen Resolution settings then I have read there is no way to change these numbers. I tried extending the displays and draging display 2 in front of display 1 then clicking Identify and that did not work. Then in the Catalyst Control Center, Desktop Management, Creating and Arranging Desktops I extended the displays, swapped displays, identified displays and this did not work.

Never had this problem when I directly connected my Sony 50" KDS-50A2000 HDTV to my PC by HDMI.

There are two DVI connectors on the graphics card and the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI connector next to the DVI connection for the monitor.

Is there some way to change these display numbers?
