Everybody has been around this forum long enough now to recognize what the majority of posts are concerned with....driver information/installation and :

 1. Crossfire

2. Eyefinity/display issues

The problem, as I see it, is that these posts are scattered all over the forum. A person with issues related to the above have no dedicated forum to look for help/answers/solutions. So they post the same old questions time and time again..and in various sub-forums. AMD spends a lot of money advertising Eyefinity and Crossfire...and when problems arise a owner should be able to come here and find a forum that deals only with those issues. These were two seperate forums before AMD decided to combine and streamline the catagories...and IMO a big mistake to eliminate. How hard can it be to re-implement? It certainly would make the forums more user friendly and helpful. I realize that there are other catagories that should be addressed, such as APU, etc., but the two crossfire and eyefinity forums should be at the top of the 'to do' list.

I agree, Crossfire is absolutely needed as well as a sticky in that subcategory linking to the Crossfire Compatibility Chart. Eyefinity needs its own subcategory too because it doesn't really fit into the other categories. I don't think the APU needs its own section because most people ask questions about Dual Graphics and such which goes into the other sections, but if you add Crossfire and Eyefinity, it wouldn't hurt to add APU as well.

I would add one more catagory and that is open source...Linux, etc. This was a topic that was normally reffered to the "other" forum ( http://forums.amd.com/forum/categories.cfm?catid=310&zb=2556093  when questions were posted in the 'gaming' forum. But, that forum no longer exists. So, just look at all the Linux questions posted here...they are scattered all over the place. Consequently, the same old questions asked and answered all over again. How simple to just have a forum catagory..OPEN SOURCE/LINUX /UMBUTU or whatever. Then a user that has a issue with his Linux opensource and AMD  knows where to look for answers or post his question.

Well thank God we have a new catagory....AMD Promotions. So useful. I am sure that will be a active forum forever. Meanwhile...

..one suggestion would be to add the word "desktop" to the "AMD Radeon Graphics" and "Catalyst suite and Drivers"..otherwise I am afraid the posters with "less knowledge" will still post their laptop questions there.

But the $64,000 question is will people actually start putting things in the correct categories?

Probably not....if you judge by laptop owners.

I'm not sure it's a good thing. Now those 20 threads made by 10 people (the whole forum poulation) will be scattered in 50 categories. The forum will look even more deserted than before.

EDIT:

After a few days I can say, the forum does look dead indeed.

I agree, it would be better if some sections were combined, say AMD Processors and APU's with the APUs being made into a subcategory, but I'm not sure if this forum software allows that.

While the maintenance fire is burning..I would like to ask everybody's opinion. If AMD were your company, would you prefer your customers to go to A or B to look for driver updates?

A. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

B. http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx

I use site B, but there is room for improvement.

I would like to see a sticky thread for each graphics driver version so that everyone has one place to gripe in

the first post can contain the download link(s) to get the installer(s)

I have a wheel mouse so 50 messages to a page is not a problem

I use B for normal drivers and A for linux and legacy drivers. While B is easier to use (fewer clicks needed), it lacks mentioned stuff.

Just saying..I really like the new forum format. Alot less mis-posting and easy to find catagories. Thanks AMD moderators.

But people still ignoring the stickies and posting either no information or their DxDiag files.

Until there is a system to require that info at sign-up, I don't think anything will change in that reguard. However, to me, the decrease in posts mean one thing. People with a 'crossfire' issue (as an example) can clearly see a 'crossfire' forum. Now most will search and read the posts and learn from the responses, and in some/most cases have no need to post anything. They found their answer. Before, posted issues were spread all over the place, and not that easy to find (even with search). So I think it is a great improvement. The idiots will still post anywhere. And ask the same questions. Laptop owners are the worst.

Same thing happened at the Processor forum, look at some of my original posts, I pretty much had a form letter that asked for all of the info if they had it...
