Having an issue with WoW. When I launch the game (5.05) I can get to the login screen, then the graphics driver goes into a loop lockup. This seems to either (1) hard lock the system, or (2) knockout the card (monitor gets no signal). To date I have run the whole list of standard fixes (see below).
PowerColor Radeon HD5570 12.8 CCC, Driver 8.982.0.0 (Not OC'd)
Win XP Pro 32bit, SP3
Asus A8N-E, ASUS BIOS 1013
750 w Thermaltake PSU (don't recall model)
Samsung Syncmaster 2253
3 case fans, 2 exhaust, 1 intake. I have sufficient cooling to OC.
Dual Core AMD Opteron 185 2.6GHz, MMX, 3DNow (Not OC'd)
Avant 4x1GB DDR333
Seagate 130 GB HDD
I am a Computer tech, so this is all done systematically.
Uninstalled Software & Card, Used Driver Fusion from Safe mode, re-installed 12.8 from a fresh dl
Memtested onboard RAM. No issues
MB is new, PSU providing correct voltages (ASUS PC Probe II)
Ran FurMark, passed all tests, a little slow, but no apparent issue. Temps not an issue, card is operating in the 45-65c range
Uninstalled/Installed game from scratch (virgin, no mods)
It's still locking up the driver. I am now officially stumped. Any insight would be appreciated.
I noted that no matter how I did it, there are 2 ATI files in my System32 folder that I can NOT get rid of. This leads me to believe that while all other functions are ok, the file is still an issue and under heavy street it fails
