The past few weeks ive been teaching myself 3D modeling and when the polly count would reach 200k+ the model would take 5minutes or so to render or the whole program would crash and or the computer would freeze. Come to find out the program/s (Blender and Sculptric)were using my cpu and not the gpu. I even change the settings in the programs to use the gpu only but it still only used the cpu.

Anyone know of a 3D modeling program that supports the 7970 or if AMD plans on supporting any of the 3D modeling programs? I'm fairly new at this and i have no clue if AMD is at fault or if its the developers of the programs ive been using.

Be sure you are using opencl version of blender as cuda is for nvidia only. If you are using the wrong versions, it obviously fails to use the gpu and attempts to render with cpu instead.
