Hello,
I played smoothly the Bad Company 2, but since I installed the new Catalyst driver ( 12.8 ) through Steam, but after 1 ~ 2 minutes of play, the game stop and displays a white screen, but the audio still working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver I was using before ( 11.12, came with the video card ), but without success. Also downloaded the beta (12.9) but not solved. If possible, would help to solve this problem.
I checked and nothing is overheating, all coolers working fine, as i said, the problem appeared after installing new driver using steam.
I also tried deletingand reinstalling the game, but the problem persists ...
DirectX 11 updated;
Punkbuster updated;
If helps, my configuration:
Windows 7 32 bits SP 1; Intel Core i3 2120 3.3 GHz; MSI HD 6870 Hawk; 4 GB Kingston Hyperx Blu DDR 3 1600 MHz; Asus P8B75-M LE;
Thank you very much.

HD6870 at 96°(if its Celcius) seems a little bit hot.. only some more higher end gpus are designed to withstand such heat.

Wow, that's a bit out of line, how many fans in your case? And are they good high volume fans?
Are all the wires tucked away?

Its generally not recommended to install drivers from Steam or Microsoft update. Download them from > http://benchmark3d.com/amd-catalyst-9-001-september-4 Uninstall the previous drivers, reboot. Run Driver Fusion > http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion (free), select AMD graphics...delete all it finds, reboot. Install the new driver suite. You should be good to go.

Thank stumped.
But as I said, I tried to do this by following your instructions in this topic (http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=443&threadid=161308) but without results ...
I try again and hopefully new information?
Thank you!

I had this same issue playing Bad Company 2 with my HD 4870 on Windows 7 x64 using the 12.6 drivers. I followed stumped's instructions and when I rebooted and tried the issue was not fixed. But a side effect of cleaning and re-installing was that the overdrive options were available again in the control center and I was able to manually set the fan and reduce the temperature (it was at 80 degrees C previously). So far the drivers haven't crashed.
