card model : SAPPHIRE HD7870 XT w/ boost

catalyst 13.1, fresh system install

os Win7x64

other hw : Core i7 3770//16GB DDR3-SDRAM//620W

game : LOST PLANET COLONIES EDITION

symptoms : always crashes after 10~15min of gameplay, even with game factory default display settings

on my previous rig, HD4870X2+legacy drivers, I played that game hardcore and never met such a crash

Fix this asap, thank you. We don't upgrade cards for seeing more bugs.

Correct. On each driver download page there is a "issue report form". In the "how to and FAQ" section there is a list of support options..(e-mail, telephone) for the country you live in.

It is a place for gamers. It is also a place where gamers can show fellow gamers how one person..sitting in front of one computer...can royally screw up a perfectly good game by applying their vast knowledge. And then blame their graphics card or processor.

I called amd phone support and they didn't tell me anything about a faulty 7870 batch, so not sure if you're serious

edit: googled it, it does only affect the ghz edition not the xt w/ boost, you waste my time dude

well i don't know about the warranty system where you live.

but when i got mine and found out it was a bad card the card just a couple of month old so it's still under warranty, i took it back to the shop i bought it from and they took the card and gave me a new one no question asked. they didn't charge me anything (obviously) since it's still under warranty.

I'm not saying you should buy a new card, i was under assumption the card is still under warranty and you should take it back and get a replacement for your bad card.

and what if my card is ... you know ... perfectly good?

don't you think there are many other checks to do before going into such heights? it's not like I have that much free time and efforts to waste

well because your symptom is similar to mine.

Back then i can only play RTS game, those game will never crash. But when i play FPS game like crysis or crysis 2 or other fps game it crash at random. The only way to make the card not crashing while playing i have to undercloked to core clock from default value (900 mhz) to (875 mhz). higher than that then it will crash.

Decided to take it back to the store and get a replacement. Guess what ? no more crashing with stock setting, now with the new card i can overclocked the card even just a bit (950 mhz).

some clarifications:

Lost Planet Colonies comes with DX9 and DX10 modes

Only DX10 crashes, DX9 works fines even under more stress ie with higher settings, resulting in higher temperatures

I have tested Resident Evil 5 which also comes with DX9 and DX10 modes, same results, only DX10 crashes

But I am still going to look into this failing cards problem, and see if I can determine whether my card is affected with that problem or not. I will also try capcom forums just in case.

Anyway phone support in my country is a real joke, they have asked me if I could format my hdd so I have decided to contact AMD warranty service in the US directly.

@goodplay yes I have seen such a sticky in some unofficial kid forum, I have better things to do than registering and posting in such shitesite

I have opened a ticket at sapphire, provided my serial numbers and waiting for them to tell me if my card must be replaced, that would really be some tough luck, I would have no graphic card for days...
