Whenever I try to open these files: http://sdrv.ms/ZXqMWf   I am getting "Windows Media Player" cannot be displayed.   As soon as I double click the file, bam, Windows Media Player cannot be displayed.

Here's the log from the action center: Description Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exeProblem signature Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: wmplayer.exe Application Version: 12.0.7601.17514 Application Timestamp: 4ce7a485 Fault Module Name: StackHash_0a9e Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Offset: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Data: 00000008 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 2563074463

I have done a factory re-install but after I re-installed all the updates, the problem is back.

I HAVE isolated it to the AMD Drivers.  Today AMD updated their drivers so I uninstalled my current version using add / remove programs and express uninstall.  As a "test" I played the file and voila, it played.  New drivers still have not fixed it.

Umm yes I have

Today AMD updated their drivers so I uninstalled my current version using add / remove programs and express uninstall.  As a "test" I played the file and voila, it played.

Edit: I found this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/windows-media-player-wont-play-mp4-files-after/47b79f7a-d0d1-4aac-adff-f93a8262bdd3 cached version as MS Forums is glitchy right now: http://cc.bingj.com/cache.aspx?q=Windows+Media+Player+won%27t+play+.mp4+files+after+installing+IE10+&d=5064725147290098&mkt=en-GB&setlang=en-GB&w=ht-eMedT3g__K9RB8jZ17KnuSUJkHh08

That sounds exactly what I am facing.

It says that the platform update is causing the error.  Could be since the problem more or less happened when I installed IE10.  However, I uninstall IE10 but to no avail (platform update was removed too with the uninstallation).  Unless the platform update changed something else that is causing the crash.

Well the 13.4 released on April 24, 2013 did NOT fix the problem.  I was kinda hoping it did.
