I downloaded Mafia II on Steam few days ago, but it´s currently unplayable due to flickering of textures (it seems that mostly light and reflection related ingame surfaces). I run HD6770, with latest 13.4 Catalyst drivers, but I also tried latest beta drivers, and issue persists. According to internet discussions I´m not alone with this issue, and only working solution for now is downgrading do 12.8 Catalyst driver, which I don´t wish to do. Please check this issue, thanks!

If you have a issue with any driver release, there is a "ISSUE REPORT FORM" on every driver download page. That is used to report the problem to AMD technical. That is the only way it will be brought to their attention...and a fix. This is a peer-to-peer gaming forum with no ability to fix anything.

Is the flickering on near objects or only on distant objects ?

I've had the game for a while but didn't get far into it, so I wouldn't know if the 12.8 driver is better, but there are no game breaking flickering textures with the 13.4 drivers that I can see.

The game does have bad aliasing though and there is a lot of creeping movement, or dashes in the aliasing on horizontal objects which does look like flicker on distant objects. No AA settings, or combination of AA settings seem to help much, but games that don't do AA (even with the option in the games settings ) seem fairly common. Not just recently or on AMD cards either.

EDIT: Just had a go on my Nvidia machine and confirmed that FXAA does not help the aliasing in Mafia 2 either (along with any combination of AA from Nvidia.), so any issue that results from aliasing must be a problem with the game. If your flashing problem is different to the aliasing creeping lines it is not the game or 13.4 drivers either.

Flickering is mostly noticable on roads, it seems like the lightning map is disappearing and reappearing on certain camera movements, and sometimes whole distant sky flickers - at first i thought its thunder with lightnings ingame, but after observing closely i noticed it´s just some bug. I used report form on download page, so there´s probably nothing to figure out now... I tried different settings of ingame graphics as well as Control Center 3D settings, but sadly nothing solved this issue.

No flickering of the sort you mentioned here. The roads and sky look fine, but just as a btw, I have since learned the correct term for what I have seen in this and other games regarding aliasing. Temporal Aliasing.

Well, no luck for me, I updated PhysX, DirectX, and installed some Visual C++ redistributables (all from 2005 to 2012, x64 versions), and flickering is still present, only in Mafia II, no other games... I also verifyied integrity of game files through steam. I´ll just wait for the 13.6 official release, and then we´ll see...

Does anyone from AMD read the forums to solve the technical glitches or is a pray and post situation?

This flickering has been going on since the 12.10 drivers and even though Mafia 2 has been optimised by the newer drivers, nothing has been done to sort out the problem. I know that it only occurs with the Radeon HD 5 & 6 series but my 5870 2gb easily plays most games and I do not want to have to upgrade just because of a broken driver.

I know Mafia 2 is probably seen as a old game and not worth the effort to AMD but there are still a lot of people who play this game and having to revert drivers back to 12.8 everytime to play it is becoming a pain in the ass. So come on AMD, show that you care and give us Mafiosos a fix for our favourite game.

No. No.

Did you not read the first reply to the OP? Submit a report to AMD technical. Look in the FAQ section for e-mail and telephone contact in whatever country your in. You can squeal all you want in a peer-to-peer forum and nothing will be changed or fixed...if it does indeed need fixing. No engineers here.
