I recently purchased ATI 7870 in order to work with Sony Vegas 12 or Premiere CC.I heard that Open CL is supported for these applications, but it seems that even though both programs do detect the card, they don't really use it.

I found out that rendering a video with Sony vegas 12 (build 770)  64bit, with AVC/ACC codecs by using GPU has absolutely no diference by rendering the same video with same codecs by using CPU.Also, when i render by having GPU selected, the GPU stays idle, while CPU goes 100%, that obviously means that GPU wont handle the video at all.

Sony Vegas, does detect the GPU, as well as marks OpenCL available when i scan for it.

The same applies for Adobe Premiere CC 64bit (all updates installed). The application does detect the card, but when i use for example Warp Stabilizer, the GPU stays idle besides some small spikes that goes less than 50% usage and then back to 0%.

I tried reinstalling the drivers a couple of times, but seen no improvement.

I use  13.251-131206a-166389C-ATI (currently latest) drivers.
Runing Windows 8.1 64bit with all updates installed.

My rig is:
i5 2500
12gb RAM

motherboard: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3 (latest stable bios version).

650 Watt OCZ PSU
OCZ Vertex 4 128gb hard disk.

I have exactly the same problem! I just posted the same topic without knowing so I will bump this instead.

Did you get to the bottom of the problem?

Considering sending my 7870 back. It's good for gaming, but not for Vegas it seems
