I'm having this weird problem with my Sapphire 7870 HD. Whenever I try to run some graphics heavy app (like playing games or even watching videos on YouTube), the app crashes and shows me this error:

When I run Battlefield 3, It gives somewhat verbose message:

Once I got BSOD with this message: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE: atikmpag.sys

I have tried this solution (, have reinstalled OS (Windows 8.1) and Display Driver (Catalyst 14.4, Catalyst 14.7 RC3) several times, even with clean install as mentioned here(, still no use.

Surprisingly, when I uninstall Catalyst drivers, and run the game with basic MS video driver installed, the game runs without a problem. Needless to say, the game runs too slow to play at all, but it doesn't crash.

Please help.
