I was installing my heatsink like the guide told me to, the clips would not hold on to the proccesor, so I removed it for inspection. I finally clipped it on, but im worried about how the thermal paste separated from the cpu, could this make the paste weaker and potentially make the cpu break because of heat? Do i need more thermal paste or is it fine the way it is.

You ruined the current thermal paste by letting air reach between it. You need to use alcohol (preferrably vol 90 or more) to make the cpu and heatsing shine again and then apply fresh thermal paste, people keep saying Artic Silver 5 is one of the best ones, but AS2 isn't that bad either.

I prefer IC Diamond but I used AS5 for years (and still do on my GPU as you can't use diamond based TIMs on GPUs) and love it. It's not going to break the CPU but as long as you haven't heat cycled it it's not going to make a heck of a lot of difference, as some guides recommend to apply the TIM, apply the heatsink, twist it a bit to spread the TIM, then remove and inspect.
