this might sound a bit dull, but seriously, I recently purchased a Phenom 2X4 945 processor, which I am very happy with. It is designed for socket AM3, but will it fit (and work properly) in an AM3+ socket? (like some AM3 processors fit on AM2+ boards.)

Thanks a lot for every answer.

Hello.....Every motherboard manufacturer has a supported CPU list for each specific motherboard model.  Before you purchase a motherboard, visit the motherboard manufacturer's site and look at the supported CPU listing for it to find out if a processor will work in it or not.
