I bought the Phenom II 965 recently in a bid to improve game play. My old Althlon64 X2 4200+ is clearly a lot less powerful but its not all that bad as I like that it is lower power which is useful for my web server where it serves now. The Sempron has now been retired to a tray.

The thinking I have now is that the CPU will be devine for running pretty much any display adapter I can afford.

I might get a new system board, but prices on something like the Sabertooth 990FX have not softened as hoped for. I found a cheaper M5A99 version with the same chipset.

So can my Phenom manage with 2 uppity video cards and not bottleneck my performance too much?

Wait a sec... First  you'd need a decent PSU. oops booboo there. Nevermind.

Then I'd go for one GOOD vidcard to see if that satisfys you. Moving to a 7970 or Nvidia's top of the line, from your 260 will make a world of difference.

The Corsair TX850 is not a decent psu??

Vegan, you 965 will bottleneck two "uppity" video cards, by how much depends on which 2 uppity card your looking at.

Didn't see that in the first line. Looking at second line.

I tried Brink on the Phenom, what a big boost in frame rates. Sure seems that the Phenom 965 was excellent bang for my $$

My Corsair TX850V2 is a respectable PSU for up to SLI/CFX or a maybe a dual GPU card.

What is curious is that my Window Experience jumped up 7.5 for my CPU and my RAM. Guess DDR2 is not all that sucky after all.

I was curious does the FX X4 saturate the WEI at 7.9?

I just bought some new ball bearing fans for my chassis so its now going to see even more service than it already has.

I have tons of OpenGL games as I have almost all of the idTech games, as I like shooters. Is Radeon up to playing Rage etc?
