Issue Details
My AMD Turion X2 Ultra 64 has failed. (Almost certainly due to overheating. When I got the laptop apart, there was a big, dense ball of dust lodged in the cooling-fan airway.)
If possible, I would like to buy a replacement.
Unfortunately, I do not know the clock speed of the system, so I cannot be sure what CPU to buy.
Motherboard or System Make & Model
The computer is an HP laptop.
Model: HP Pavilion dv7z-1000.
Part Number: KT073AV
Serial Number: CND8502R2B
CPU Details
The label at the top of the CPU says
TMZM80DAM23GG 9424574H81408
0BALB BA 0832CAM 2007 AMD
DIFFUSED IN GERMANY MADE IN CHINA
The label at the bottom of the CPU says
AMD Turion Ultra
It is a dual core processor.
The system has not been modified. Except for the hard drive, all of the parts are original. I doubt that HP overclocked the CPU.
Motherboard BIOS Version
I have no way to check this.
System Memory Type & Amount
The system has 4 GB of memory. I am not sure what type.
Operating System
The laptop was delivered with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 installed.
I have since upgraded to Widows 7 Home Premium.
Additional Details
The system does not boot up. Instead, the Caps Lock and Num Lock lights blink in unison, one blink every 3 seconds or so. HP documentation says a single blink indicates a CPU failure.
I checked for memory failure by removing one memory chip at a time, trying each chip in the other's slot, and trying both together reversed from their original positions. None of this made any difference. Besides, memory failure has its own blink code.
Can anybody advise me on what replacement CPU to buy?
