After I ran the Hardware Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool to confirm that the Bios was qualified, I tried to install XP Mode/Virtual PC on Windows 7 Pro 64bit but I got the "could not complete setup-please try again" message. Net research wasnt much help but one post indicated a conflict with Bulldozer CPU's and Microsoft logic that could not be resolved. (no elaboration) Can you shed any light on this issue? If my CPU (A10 5700) and Windows 7 XP Mode are incompatible I need to consider another approach. Thanks Sam

System:

Processor A10 5700 W/HD7660D Graphics

AMD A85X Chipset W/8.982 0.0 Driver

Windows 7 Pro 64bit OS

Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4 W/3DBios Dual UEFI Bios

Intel 120GB SSD

I use Asus boards and they are fine, I have seen a lot of issues with Gigabyte of late over virtual machine support

I have pretty much been able to determine that this is a lost cause. Microsoft has a patch for this but to use it you need expertise beyond my level and then who knows for sure it will work. It seems clear MS is the culprit in this mess but it would show sense for AMD to insert a caution on the webpage about this. That would give the non clairvoyant a chance to avoid the issue and risk losing them as customers.

This is the link to the MS patch:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2519949/en-us
