I have a new Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pc, with a ECS Elitegroup A55F2-M3 V1.0 mother board that takes the AMD A8-5600K APU with Radeon HD Graphics. I am getting frequent BSOD after loading the AMD graphic driver that came with the system or with the latest graphic driver from AMD (13-1_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql ). The BSOD happened during simple files browsing, video viewing or during idle at the logon screen. I have no application loaded other than IE 9.

When I uninstalled the AMD graphic driver, or when I ran in Safe Mode without the AMD graphic driver, the system is stable. I tested the RAM using Memtest-86 and found no issues. I have the Corsair TX550M psu and no other expansion divices. So power should not be an issue. I have plenty of cooling fans going and the system was running very cool at the time of the BSOD.

The fact that the pc is running stable when no AMD graphic driver is loaded pretty much points to it is a graphic driver issue.

I would appreicate feedback from anyone using the same AMD A8-5600K APU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

I think I found a work-around to this after talking to tech support at ECS Elitegroup. They told me another user had the same issue. The work-around is to disable the power-saving setting on the motherboard for the idle core. It seems the CPU went to sleep and never woke up when running with the AMD graphic driver during the time the processor core was idle.

I have been running with the latest AMD graphic driver, 13.1 for several days now without any problem since making this change with all my main applications.
