I am currently using an Athlon-64 X2 6000+ stock heatsink, but I find the fan to be a little loud. I don't want to replace the whole heatsink, because it seems to be performing good temperature wise. However I'd like to replace only the fan in order to reduce the noise if possible. Are there any better performing fans (especially more silent ones) that I can buy? Either from AMD or another manufacturer?

Thank you.

Fan noise is a product of bearing type, size, obstructions, blade design, and rotational speed. The stock fan size is so small it has to rotate very fast to move a good amount of air, which causes a loud noise. You're going to want to get a whole new aftermarket cooler. I would suggest a closed loop liquid cooler for their whisper quietness and great cooling ability.
