OCZ 500W ModXstream Pro modular PSU

AMD Phenom II x2 560 BE (now core unlocked to PII x4 B60 @3.3GHz)

ASUS M5A99X Evo MoBo (Bios 1604 latest version)

4 x 4GB Kingston DDR3 1333 Ram

2 x Sapphire low profile HD5570 1GB DDR3 (not in cross fire)

2 x 19 inch 1440 x 900 monitors one on each video card

ASUS Xonar D2X PCI-E sound card

64 GB Samsung 830 SSD sata III (system drive)

Western Digital Carviar Blue 500GB sata II(program drive)

2 x Sony sata DVD-RW

Windows 7 Home 64 bit

I posted a while back about the above system, I think I have found the trade off

I use Windows mediaplayer, I know many of you hate it but it works for me and how I use it - I also have VLC installed been using it for years but it does not work how I work with MP.

Anyway the system was working fine for over 6 months with the CPU as a X2 560 and all 127 of my MP4 videos played fine in MP, but after I unlocked the CPU to the X4 B60 MP crashes on every one of my videos ? this is the only change to the machine.

I played the videos with VLC and it plays them all ok, I also copied the entire video folder from my Intel i5 laptop with AMD 7670M just to make sure the files were not corupted and still MP crashes.

Thing I have done :-

Put the CPU back to X2 560 - no change

Reset the BIOS & pulled the batt - no change

Uninstalled MP & reinstalled - no change

Deleted and rebuilt the video lib - no change

Complete reinstall of Win7 with only Mobo/video driver - no change

HELP  !! this is really getting on my wick now.

So I have returned to this problem, now with an answer if anyone is in the remotest interested ?

First some other things I tried without success :

Installed all video drivers available from 13.4 back to 13.1 clean install each time - no change.

Tried only one HD5570 at a time again with above drivers - no change.

Downloaded and flashed the Bios to the latest 1708, this was real fun !, as the machine would NOT boot off it's HDD or any device unless forced to - so very useful, went back to 1604............

Was about to throw the whole thing out on it's arse, then it hit me like a lump of dog s***, took ALL AMD drivers off the machine restarted umpteen times and then installed only the MoBo drivers - removed both the HD5570 and put in an old Nvidia 9800GT installed driver 285.62 and restated.

Pc booted no problems into Win 7 and adjusted to the correct screen res and monitor layout and even better MP now plays all my videos again without any problems !

So still non the wiser why the HD5570 suddenly stopped working, but I'm a happy bunny again
