Ive done a crazy amount of research and as best i can tell, AMD doesnt publish the temps at which you would expect their (stock)cpus to run at while idle and while under full load. ive seen the support email around but that doesnt exactly qualify as official and it doesnt really answer the question.

At idle my CPU undervolts itself and doesnt go back up to full voltage till it hits 16% cpu usage. so its idle temp is all but meaningless.(it is low, 11C 58F)

But once it hits 50% CPU usage its up to 60C. havnt tested it to 100% yet.

Can someone please point me to where AMD lets everyone know what temps to expect?

Btw... Yes my heatsink is mounted properly and yes im reading the cpu temp, not the socket temp.

You can't say what "normal temperatures" to expect because it depends on what heatsink you're using, ambient temps, and airflow.

In this case it came with a heatsink, (if anyone read the warranty info for this one) it says use of any other heatsink other then the one they provide voids the warranty.

but still, some range of expected temps would be nice :/ im unsure if its running hot or if its normal temps. Or if AMD just sells stuff that cant be used stock without voiding their warranty or burning the chip up. :/

Ambient 25°C and the stock heatsink, 60°C sounds about right if it is to be believed, which I think is a bit higher than the actual temp.

It is almost impossible to give you an estimated temp because of the sheer amount of variables, they'd have to give you the entire spec of the system, along with how many fans are in the system, the ambient temp, the thermal paste used, the voltages it's using etc

thats why they dont give you a set of refernce data, because it wouldn't apply to 99% of the systems out there.

from what i have read the stock cooler is barely sufficient for the cpu it comes with, i havent used one so i couldn't say for certain about its performance

I found using MX-4 was able to allow me to overclock a bit more than the factory grease found on the fan assembly.

I am regreasing a lot of equipment with it given I have lots and it works well.

Hope its claimed 8 year life is genuine
